A look inspired by the costumes of circus ringmasters.
Dress from Primark London, shoes from Marshall Rousso Las Vegas, necklace from Colette Hayman, clutch from Forever New.
I really wanted to do a shoot with one of my favourite pieces that I picked up while travelling - a black dress with a long chiffon tail. I love how the dress has a modern cut yet the tail provides a degree of formality reminiscent of the days when top hats and tails were the norm. The riding crop adds the ringmaster touch to the look and I almost wore this as a Halloween costume this year (but dropped it when I realized that no one else at the party was really dressed up).
The dress was found in Primark on Oxford Street in London. For those not familiar with the brand, Primark is a fast-fashion brand with very affordable, good quality clothes, shoes and accessories. The Oxford Street store has 3 levels with thousands of items and the crowds...well put it this way, when I came out of Primark, I felt like I had just fought a battle -.- But it is worth the effort and if you're ever in London, be sure to block out 2 hours of your day for a visit!
I did this shoot with my friend Emily, who is branching out her photography business which she started at the tender age of 21. Focusing mainly on events and portraits, she loves to capture those moments that really tell the story. For more of her work, check out her Facebook page EMC Photography.
