sunday reading | #1
Image sourced from Mashable
Ever since I started working last year and, like the majority of the world, started living "for the weekend", Sundays have become a sacred day in my calendar. It seems to be the only day of the week when one can find time for thyself, find peace and reflect on the week that was, and the week ahead. Of course it is also a great day for catching up on reading.

Chanel Spring 2013 |
Last week I started working at the jewellery store Pandora, and have all of a sudden become obsessed with pearls. Naturally I turned to the Chanel Spring 2013 collection to find inspiration on wearing pearls. Karl Lagerfeld's latest collection has been described as one of "excess", with just a few too many trends in the 80-piece collection. But it was pearls that dominated, appearing on boxy cropped jackets and strapless dresses; as chunky bracelets and necklaces and used to accessorise the models' low bun hairstyle.

runway faces|
Armani Prive Fall 2012 Couture
Maybe it's the Spring racing fever that is sweeping through Melbourne right now, but lately I've been drawn to the various hats and veils utilised by designers to complete their looks for the runway. Each season, we focus on the clothes, the shoes, the bags, dissecting the shapes and colours whilst neglecting the faces; but I wonder if the looks will still have the same sense of drama and mystery if the accompanying hats and fascinators were removed...from Armani's bejeweled veils to Chanel's bandit lace mask, here is a look at some of the most iconic headgear on recent runways.

Indian Princesses on the Paris Bombay Express|
From the underwater world featuring the beautiful voice of Florence Welch to a palatial Indian setting in the Grand Palais, Karl Lagerfeld once again delivers a stunning collection for Chanel fans to feast their eyes. The latest looks from the Chanel atelier encompass shimmery gold harem pants, soft draping bottoms paired with structured jackets as well as the traditional boucle and tweed in red, plum, cream and hot pink. New accessories come in the form of large pendants adorning the models' foreheads, sitting atop piles of dreadlocked hair or a simple low bun with a middle part. Personally I prefer the dreadlocks, it gives that almost punk, rebellious princess feel. On the accessories side, the wrapped-parcel style handbags have been carried over from the Spring 2012 collection but we're also seeing some Indian henna influenced prints on clutches and mosaic-on-pyramids designs (see photo below).
Whilst flicking through the photos of this collection I could not help but marvel at how clever it is that the team at Chanel has steered their focus towards India when every other luxury brand seems to still be fighting for their share of the booming Chinese luxury market. It seems that the other brands have almost forgotten about the potential growth of India's emerging luxury market, which, if you think about it, really plays out to Chanel's advantage. No doubt this Paris Bombay Express will raise a few heads. I wonder how the other luxury giants will respond? x

what the water gave me|
Here I am still obsessing about the CHANEL Spring 2012 collection. Found these exquisite backstage photos from CHANEL News en route to my favourite study soundtrack (the music that was used for the Spring/Summer show last year when they transformed the Grand Palais into a massive garden - the entire piece runs for about 15 mins long and you can find it hidden somewhere in the backlog of posts, or just on youtube if you're looking for a shortcut!) I've got my first exam coming up this Monday, the marks of which will make or break my chance of getting into Marketing honours so it really is crunch time! Hope you've been productive with your studies and good luck if you've got exams coming up! x
Cute picture of Coco (also found on CHANEL News). I wonder if she'd look this happy if she could see from above what Karl and all the amazing people at CHANEL have done for her brand... <3

Chanel Spring 2012 | Under the Sea
Always the most anticipated show of the season, Monsieur Lagerfeld wows the fashion world again with another stunning collection. Pale tweed suits, translucent dresses and silver booties were all inspired by those forgotten creatures inhabiting the bottom of the sea. When asked why he chose this theme, Lagerfeld replied "The ocean is the same all over the world...in fact the oldest things are the most modern".
