yoga fix | detox

for when you've indulged just a little too much

Ah weekends in winter. I don't know about you but chilly weekends for me are all about food. It generally kicks off with dumplings on Friday night, a fancy brunch at one of Melbourne's many quirky experimental cafes on Saturday morning, followed by something chocolatey to curb the sweet cravings and then a dinner of smokey Korean BBQ and finally, some late night red wine.

Needless to say by the time Sunday night rolls around, my body is craving for a detox. Which is how I came across this routine from Sarah Beth, a yoga teacher from Denver that I have recently added to my YouTube yoga list.

Type: Vinyasa
Length: 20 mins

Notes: this routine consists of a couple of twists, so make sure you've given your stomach plenty of time to rest after a meal before trying out this routine.

Also, for those not too familiar with Vinyasa - it is a style of yoga where each breath signals a change of pose, so you breathe in to one pose and breathe out to another pose then breathe in to the next pose and so on, thereby creating a "flow" of movements.

I love Vinyasa because you don't have to hold each pose for too long, and the flow of movements means you have to be focused on your routine which really helps to centre your mind. But it does require a knowledge of basic yoga poses as the movements tend to flow at a quicker pace. So, if you're looking for a more relaxing routine, try this one from Tara Stiles.

A Sunday night detox is perfect for getting your body and mind ready for the week ahead.

Happy yoga-ing!

Namaste
xoxo
