interior inspiration #5 | Closets

A closet full of clothes and nothing to wear?

In the midst of busy season at the office, I somehow found myself in conversation with a  colleague about wardrobe organization. Granted, we are two people working in tax consulting, so such conversations are rare. But there he was discussing his hobby of organising his own wardrobe (and sometimes that of his friends!) which led me to think - should we be putting in a bit more effort to keeping our closets organised?

We come into contact with our wardrobe on a daily basis, sometimes frustratingly begrudging that there's absolutely nothing to wear (thank you Carrie Bradshaw for coining this concept), and other times, barely glancing at the contents as we grab something to put on before we rush out the door.

Yet in many ways our wardrobe is a part of our identity, and a reflection of our evolving concept of personal branding. From the ripped jeans and hoodies that we stored in there in our teens, to the collared shirts and shift dresses that suddenly took over half of the space as we prepped for our first foray into the corporate world, our wardrobe grows with us as we grow into the different versions of ourselves.

So maybe it's time for us to open those doors to our closets and take a good look at what is in there. You might be surprised by what you find, and the memories that are hidden in those pieces.  Here's a little inspiration for your next big clean-out.

Of course my own wardrobe looks nowhere near that organised. But one day, maybe...
xoxo
