New York Fashion Week | Spring 2015

breathe, breathe breathe...
that's what I keep telling myself as I finally jumped on Style.com for the Spring 2015 collections straight from New York, trying to keep my heart beat under control. After following runway shows on Style.com for 10 years (that's right!), I have finally given up trying to go through every single photo of every single show. I did try that for a while, it was exhausting and really not that productive in deciphering the new trends and up and coming designers, so now it's more a game of go where the hearts leads.

This season, the first place it led me to was Thom Browne, whose whimsical designs are at odds with the clean minimalist look typical of New York runways. But don't be fooled by the chaotic patterns, underneath the colours are structured trouser suits and stiff pleats fitting for a modern rendition of My Fair Lady.

...and then it was to 3.1 Phillip Lim, who has dropped off my radar for a while. But this season there was an intricate yet organic sense of simplicity in his collection of emboridered, sculptural pieces. Strategic cut outs helped maintain his knack for tapping into the big trends, and those bags were just to die for.

stay tuned for more runway spotlights from Spring 2015.
