During an office coffee run, my buddy and I had a discussion about waistcoats. I was lamenting about how modern day dressing has cast waistcoats into the shadows, as opposed to the suit wearing days of the 1950s where a suit was always three-piece rather than two. He, a man who loves his Italian tailored suits, disagreed, saying that waistcoats are now more common on nights out, chosen by silhouette conscious guys to add a touch of class to the typical shirt and jeans ensemble. After coffee we went back to our day jobs but I was intrigued, and found myself toying with the idea of working it into an everyday outfit. If I thought it was hard to find guys wearing waistcoats in this day and age, it was even harder to find it on girls, hence this post - dedicated to those days when a waistcoat adds just the right touch to your outfit (For some real-life inspiration, check out Kate Peck's ensemble at The Great Gatsby Sydney premiere).
On another note, I almost feel that I owe my readers and my blog an apology for the neglect over the past few months. Ever since I started as a graduate tax consultant I have found little time or brain space to blog. Full time work has been incredibly rewarding, but also mentally draining especially given the steep learning curve that comes with working in this field, and it has taken me til about now (almost 4 months later) to actually find an adequate balance between work and life. I have thought about closing the blog due to lack of time and whatnot, but this blog has somehow become a part of my life and closing it down just feels unnatural. So, like all else in life, we power on, and I hope that you will stay on this journey with me.
xoxo
