Modern mermaid. These are the words that pop into my head every time I see this skirt. 

I found it in Sportsgirl as part of their collaboration with Jamie Lee, a Perth designer who specialises in hand beading and couture. At the time I had just moved out and was freaking out about meeting my rent and bill payments, it really wasn't the time to fork out $150 (more than half a week of rent) on a piece of clothing! But the thing with statement pieces is that it is almost like an instinct, you see it and you just know that this is something that will add that extra dimension to one's wardrobe, and this instinct constantly bugged me until I finally bought the skirt. I guess the good thing about finally getting something that you've been working towards is that you'll always remember that moment when you finally got what you wanted. Like a dream job, a trip of a life time or the sense of freedom that comes with moving out of home for the first time, that feeling of exhilarating satisfaction stays with the memory forever.
