light show

I took my camera to uni today. Yep, Piper the Canon EOS 550D with its two lenses, the bulky camera bag along with my encyclopedia sized textbook and generally heavy uni bag. Here I thought I would be heading off to my best friend Jaz's house for a photo shoot of her product range today but, due to unforeseen circumstances blah blah the shoot didn't happen. Refusing to surrender to the idea that I have been carrying Piper around for nothing, I took it out on its very first night shoot around the city. Here are some light shots taken at Fed Square in Melbourne. Apart from the first and last photo, all were taken using swirly hand motions and a slow shutter against little lanterns suspended midair on thin wires. Photography credits: Richard (who accidentally discovered this light shooting technique and consequently took lots and lots of photos)

la petite galerie #1|

My impression of the leather bag has always been like this: old, faded looking vintage brown leather bag that you can find in op-shops and worn across body by the odd Arts student who is so into retro that he/she will most likely be head to toe in vintage (excuse the generalisation). But ever since Mary Kate and Ashley showed up with two of their own brand of exclusive (and expensive) bookish bags, I have been obsessed with the new breed of leather bags - note "new breed": sleek and modern, generally in a squarish shape and can be worn with casual outfits or carried to work and the occasional cocktail party. Here are a selection of modern leather bags I found on asos.com, aren't they divine!

P.S: I'm not deliberately promoting ASOS, even though I  do love the website; I simply don't have the time to hunt around online for samples from other brands because of uni!

interior inspirations #1

apart from fashion, one of my other great loves is interior designing. I found this blog today - House of Turquoise - via another tumblr blog that I have been following for a while. obviously this blogger is passionate about the colour turquoise, and her blog showcases some amazing interior design inspirations. definitely one to bookmark.

favourite things #1

Sportsgirl earrings.

the red sequins mask I wore to a ball last year.

I got a new DSLR recently as an early 21st birthday present! a Canon EOS 550D which I have now named Piper :) these are among the first shots I took with the camera. The first one, an earrings stand, has about 20 pairs of my earrings on display.  The Sportsgirl earrings are normally hidden in a jewellery box, and the floral detailing reminds me of that 70s themed Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Last one is a snapshot of some of my all-time favourite reads - some classic Dickens literature, Oscar Wilde, a little bit of witty sci-fi from Douglas Adams and of course, modern romance novels. Just out of curiosity, what are some of your favourite things?
