A long farewell to 2015 |

 I'm currently writing this from Dubai waiting to ring in the new year with everyone else here at the airport. I think this is the longest New Year's Eve I have ever had in my life - having left Melbourne in the wee hours of the morning on 31 December 2015, I have since crossed NYE in Kuala Lumpur, then Dubai and finally will cross my last 2015 NYE up in the air en route to Washington DC. Needless to say, my brain and body clock are very confused right now (not to mention the fact that my entire blogging platform has decided to translate itself into Arabic)!

After "Negotiations" class in which the topic of listening and knowing how to listen was discussed. One of the lecture slides featured the below quote: 

"If speaking is silver, then listening is gold" - Turkish proverb" 

Walking out of class with my Turkish friend Maz, I asked "are Turkish people good at listening then?" in response to the insightful proverb 

"Ummm" Maz thought for a moment, "no actually. But they are good at creating proverbs that tell other people how to listen. Such is the irony". 

Indeed.

2015 | shine bright

It's 1am on 1 January 2015 here in Melbourne and we are officially in the new year!

A new year carries new hopes, and is a great time to reflect on your triumphs, your failures, and what you would like to let go of in order to make room for new goals.

Happy New Year to all my readers across the globe. Whatever your goals may be, I hope that 2015 will be full of adventure, love and laughter for you.
