This is one of those collections where the videos do the fabrics more justice than still photography (full show click here). I don’t know why but I felt nauseous clicking through Thakoon’s new collection, maybe it was the spray painted hair colours, or maybe it was the  Cowboy hats, Mozart hairstyle and Indian prints all thrown together from one outfit to the next; whatever the reason, this is not one of my favourite collections from Thakoon but nonetheless, it is still beautiful. And I must say, those shoes are cute! x

trend update #1 | NYFW Spring 2012

   























Even my tax law assignment couldn't keep me away from the New York shows! After clicking through the huge list of shows so far, two big trends have emerged. The first is what I would describe as "the different shades of white". The above photos were sourced from style.com from four different shows: Doo.Ri, Rebecca Taylor, The Row and Christian Siriano (from left to right respectively). By day 3 of the show we can already tell that white is going to be a huge colour (again) for next season. I get how white and Spring/Summer go hand in hand but aren't we over this whole minimalism phase already? Luckily this is contrasted by the second big trend: le bleu. Luca Luca, Peter Som, Rebecca Taylor and Lyn Devon have all created their own versions of the blue dress, each with it's own distinct style (pictured below). Looks like this cobalt blue trend will be carrying over  from this season as well! x

Finally posting the full berry boots shoot! This look was inspired by Blair from Gossip Girl (which I've started watching again last week, even the re-runs are super addictive); between her, Serena and Jenny, I've always liked Blair's Upper East Side preppy chic the best.  I found this dress in Inner Mongolia while I was there visiting my grandparents about four years ago, just loved the print at the time and later realised that it is actually pleated at the front and not pleated at the back! Don't know if this was an intentional design or the person just couldn't be bothered pleating both sides of the skirt >.<

New York FW Day 1

While we were fast asleep down here in Melbourne, New York was buzzing with the start of the bi-annual NY Fashion Week.Spring and Summer collections are always my favourite, with bold colours, exotic prints and futuristic cut outs, it is so much more exciting than the Fall/Winter shows!
